Help Us To Empower Breastfeeding Support

The Breastfeeding Companion is dedicated to providing trusted, evidence-based resources and expert guidance.

Your contribution is crucial to reaching families, expanding our impact, and ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need, regardless of language or location.

Our Key Initiatives

Build Evidence Based Resources

We are committed to creating and updating reliable, research-based articles and videos that families can trust.
Your support ensures our content stays accurate, relevant, and always free – so parents can make confident decisions for their babies.

Create A Global IBCLC Database

Finding qualified, local breastfeeding support can be a challenge. We’re building a global database of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) so more mothers can connect with skilled, face-to-face help when they need it most.

Multilingual Resources

English dominates much of the breastfeeding information available online, leaving many  without equal support. We aim to translate all our resources into multiple languages, making life-changing information available accessible to families worldwide.

Why should I donate to The Breastfeeding Companion?

K
L

Your donation enables us to continue offering high-quality, evidence-based breastfeeding information and support to parents looking for breastfeeding support. As a not-for-profit resource, we rely on financial contributions to:

  • maintain and update our content (articles, guides, videos)
  • expand our reach so more families and professionals can benefit
  • support free access (we don’t put vital information behind paywalls)
  • Expand our language base to reach more families and professionals

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps keep this resource available and up-to-date for those who need it.

Is my donation secure and how can I donate?

K
L

Yes. We take security seriously. Donations are processed through trusted platforms with secure payment methods. If you prefer other methods (e.g., bank transfer or postal donation) please contact us and we’ll provide details.

Is my donation tax‐deductible / eligible for Gift Aid?

K
L

Yes. If you are a UK taxpayer, you may be able to increase the value of your donation by opting into Gift Aid. This means for every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p at no extra cost to you. On the donation form, you’ll find a Gift Aid option. Simply tick the box if eligible, and retain your receipt for your records. (If you’re unsure whether you can claim Gift Aid, you can check with HMRC or your accountant.)

What if I want to donate in memory of someone or fundraise on behalf of the website?

K
L

Thank you, that’s a thoughtful way to support our work. You can donate in memory or as a tribute via the donation form, and we’re happy to provide any wording or a certificate if needed. If you’d like to organise a fundraising event (e.g., a sponsored walk or cake sale) for The Breastfeeding Companion, please get in touch, and we’ll provide guidance and promotional materials. We greatly appreciate individuals and groups who raise funds to help more families access breastfeeding support.

Can professionals or organisations use your materials?

K
L

Yes. Our content is designed to be shared and used to support families. Health visitors, midwives, breastfeeding counsellors, doulas, and community organisations are welcome to use and reference our resources, provided they acknowledge The Breastfeeding Companion as the source and link back to our website. For larger projects or printed use, please contact us for permission and guidance.

Do you offer one-to-one support?

K
L

Our website provides trusted information, but we don’t currently offer one-to-one advice directly. However, we do have a growing network of globally qualified IBCLCs, offering direct one-to-one support, which you can find here.

How do you ensure the information on this site is accurate and up-to-date?

K
L

All of our articles and videos are reviewed regularly by qualified volunteers. We base our resources on the latest research and update them as new evidence emerges. This commitment to accuracy ensures that parents and professionals can trust the information provided.

Can I volunteer or help in other ways besides donating?

K
L

Yes. We’re always grateful for those who want to get involved. Volunteers can help us with research, outreach, proofreading, translations, and fundraising. If you’d like to offer your time or skills, please contact us via our contact form and tell us how you’d like to help.

Do you work with other breastfeeding charities or NHS services?

K
L

We collaborate with a range of UK breastfeeding initiatives, peer support programs, and healthcare professionals. Our goal is to complement, not duplicate, their work, helping families find accurate, consistent information wherever they look.
